Apologies for being late ...... I was going to say, because I was finishing off late into the night last night, which I was, but as you will know by now my naughty computer has let me down today, and I found that, although I am able to edit from my iPad, I wasn’t able to add a photo. Luckily for me Janine was kind enough to offer to add my photo for me. Thank you again, Janine.

My piece is called “What goes around, comes around” because as I was stitching around the triangles, heading for the spiral, I couldn’t stop this line from an old proverb entering my head.
The reason I’ve entitled it so is because all the triangles are from previous projects I’ve worked on, and as such they were “What goes around” with their scraps being used again and again in future ideas. As I stitched the spiral into the centre and then back on itself, and around the triangles again I couldn’t help thinking “comes around”, which although it isn’t the original meaning of the saying seemed so apt for this piece.
I wanted to show a few more photos of the backing, the heading, and how I worked this, but it will have to wait until either we buy a new laptop or the sick one is repaired.
I hope everyone has had a fun day unveiling their quilts and I will be round to visit shortly. I can’t wait to see how everyone else interpreted their “Spiral”.

I'm so glad you managed to post on reveal day, Barbara, despite your computer troubles. I hope you will be able to get it fixed. I love your spiral with all the colourful scraps and the stitching really pops against the pink background. I also like that your spiral will remind you of past projects :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Janine, and also thank you again for your help getting my photograph of my quilt actually onto the blog ..... I was really stuck!
DeleteI wasn’t all that sure about my Spiral when I started working on it, but by the time I finished I was starting to think of other things I could make in a similar vein.
No progress with our computer today!

So cute! I love that you used reminders of past projects!
ReplyDeleteThank you Gwen.
DeleteIt was fun using these fabrics again, and I was pleased how it turned out!

Such a fun and striking quilt - the pink background is exactly right to let the other colours pop. It's really quirky and I love that!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Catherine.
DeleteI confess I wasn’t sure what to do for my Spiral. I was trying hard to think of something original!
I’m pleased with the finish.

How smart Barbara to use scraps from previous projects in such an apt quilt :) So glad that you were able to overcome those annoying technological problems to be able to share your lovely quilt today :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a darling. I think it is so fun and whimsical. I think you made a great piece. The title is just right. Thanks, Janine for helping get the post up. I hope your computer issues resolve quickly.
ReplyDeleteYour spiral is the most charming interpretation yet. It’s also a,great use of those triangles. I’ve been through the loss of my blog recently and feel so bad for you. My tech granddaughter was a godsend then, but I’m having to use a new and very confusing blog producer called Wordpress. I hope yours gets straightened out completely
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind comment Paula. I love to use scraps when I can, although usually it’s squares! It was nice to use up some triangles for a change!
DeleteOh gosh, I’m sorry you lost your blog but Wordpress looks quite a good system, although I’ve only ever used Blogger. I hope I don’t loose the blog ..... at the moment it’s only the ability to put photographs on the blog.
Thanks for your kind thoughts, Paula.

That's so lovely and I love the black stitching. Great spiral piece.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ruth!
DeleteI actually began the stitching in a pink cotton but found it didn’t show up at all ..... than tried purple, no better, eventually realised it had to be black! I actually stitched around all the triangles and the spiral three times! The first round of stitching looked stark ..... by carrying on stitching it improved the look so much!
I will write up my explanation once we sort the computer out it will make more sense then.

What a cute reminder to be the best you can be. At least that is what it would be for me. Sometimes I need to be reminded more than others. Good colors too.
ReplyDeleteAwww! Thanks Tonia!
DeleteI hope things are better with you now.
Hugs,

I just love this piece SO MUCH. It's just too much fun. I think you really had fun stitching it too! It makes me SMILE.
ReplyDeletexx, Carol
Thank you, Carol!
DeleteYep! I did enjoy stitching this, and I’m even happier now as we have fixed our errant laptop and I’ve been able to write a post about my quilt ..... and add photos!
I hope you will pop over to visit.,
