Here is the picture I am starting from, a spider's web strung with dew on a misty morning, with a close-up to show the detail.
And here are some of my supplies:
My "new to me" technique in this piece is couching, and I love it! |
I used painted vintage linen in my piece for our "Nature" challenge too. |
The comments you all made the last time, really helped me see the way I want to interpret this theme. I am looking forward to seeing all the pieces on May 1st!

I had a hard time with this theme. I chose an idea and procrastinated the start. Then the REAL idea hit me just yesterday. I'll be interested to see how YOU interpret this theme.

Isn't that always the trouble? The REAL idea hits so late! :)
ReplyDeleteGoing good, enjoying seeing what you are dreaming, I have just rediscovered over 150 DMC number 5 embroidery threads all new of my mums that have been stashed for 10 years or more and using for couching too so was interesting to see you were doing it also. Cheers Glenda
ReplyDeleteI had some boxes of threads and trims passed down to me this year too. It is almost hard to use it; you feel like it needs to be in something special and perfect. But I know the former owner would be glad to see them used!
DeleteI agree totally and how happy the former owner would be her treasures were not chucked like so many are. .
DeleteThank you for sharing your progress. I love your spider's web photo and the pictures of your supplies and I'm looking forward to seeing the finished quilt on May 1st :)
ReplyDeleteHi Gwen, Nice to see your ideas.
ReplyDeleteHave to admit I’m struggling with this one. I have an idea, although I’m not sure it’s really good enough!
Look forward to seeing your spider’s web.
Hugs,
Barbara xx
Well, first you have to ditch the thought that it's not good enough. This group is not about judging at all. Follow through with what YOU feel comfortable with. I seem to get a late start when I'm not happy with the direction I'm taking. Just work on what YOU want to...it's always perfectly good.
Deletexx, Carol
Definitely! :-)
DeleteThank you, Carol and Catherine, for your support. Yes, I know what you mean, Carol, about feeling comfortable with a project, and, up until now I haven’t been sure about my direction, but I think I will continue with the idea as I think what I have in mind will be extremely useful to me in future.
DeleteThank you both again.

This looks exciting, Gwen, I'm looking forward to seeing what you do! Love the photo too.
