Amazing work, everybody! I really enjoy being a part of this group!</p><p>It's time to choose the prompt for next time around. And I'll just say right here and now, that I'm going to miss this one. We're going to be traveling nearly the entire time, including the May 1st reveal. There's a lot to do during February to get ready for our March departure, and I don't see how I can fit it in. So, I'll miss the challenge, but I'll look forward to seeing what you all come up with. </p><p>So...without further ado...</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimCXJY2zzpJ7gDakMgo_QZVSjqbiCsmwQgEBYC-MOROaynt7lQvpDv27p2rpLF9Du8zZ7kpGyIBQbF_huQtq-ldsC_Lq8yLvgdUbCk0rF3CEF0wadMQMa-EPIi9234qqBwj7y_KCUq-MstufFi6uqMhd_t8N6FCfYBR_veh6jZFHQg_6w8SR4Kx0G9cYPb/s1165/IMG_6347.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1165" data-original-width="1110" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimCXJY2zzpJ7gDakMgo_QZVSjqbiCsmwQgEBYC-MOROaynt7lQvpDv27p2rpLF9Du8zZ7kpGyIBQbF_huQtq-ldsC_Lq8yLvgdUbCk0rF3CEF0wadMQMa-EPIi9234qqBwj7y_KCUq-MstufFi6uqMhd_t8N6FCfYBR_veh6jZFHQg_6w8SR4Kx0G9cYPb/s320/IMG_6347.jpg" width="305" /></a></div><p style="text-align: center;"><b>Harmony!</b> </p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="text-align: center;">Have fun! The background fabric is Moda Grunge in Metropolis Fog. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjtzPq2fnqzSmyZP5SZYEGTjXs9KVM_nNAhJXd-T5Vvc828YmufTekp0YXc3tpo2hixPQW171eLoqdKl5ondAUsoAzrehDL43GpusqXSmyE093vDUT2aCTJGW5qpoL5MjrrKc4kal3nni8w6q4UGaRaQXVrQejZ7tX1dKpiWPa86X4mi7QGDWPeMthWU8/s640/IMG_9254.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjtzPq2fnqzSmyZP5SZYEGTjXs9KVM_nNAhJXd-T5Vvc828YmufTekp0YXc3tpo2hixPQW171eLoqdKl5ondAUsoAzrehDL43GpusqXSmyE093vDUT2aCTJGW5qpoL5MjrrKc4kal3nni8w6q4UGaRaQXVrQejZ7tX1dKpiWPa86X4mi7QGDWPeMthWU8/w480-h640/IMG_9254.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><p>Before I began this little improv piece, I had to think a bit about how to arrange the branches to give the appearance of trees close together. I enjoy it for the fun latte art (the coffee itself isn't my favorite) and the lovely little floral bouquets at each table. The floral bouquet is the inspiration for my quilt, but the coffee comes into play just a bit, too. <p></p><p>I decided to challenge myself to see if I could make a little floral bouquet using all circles and squares. It was quite fun, although I had to think a bit on how to incorporate squares! Here's my finished bouquet. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgakAWnQHFT8ec2fPo55PeF0QbWSpnaIldPlDO15HN03IpFPDKpBEdositJsoTVbMhDnG4XAqQG2ns_o7Q4pGrwQhlYKBDI5Te8tGE4e2ZBZrLr19B68EX4awlfEDAJGEXnxCOU9FEM1fl6ScAVRfBAy1s7P0thCFEaR0xsdesFVosQPThScsydoFV6_T4/s640/IMG_8925.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgakAWnQHFT8ec2fPo55PeF0QbWSpnaIldPlDO15HN03IpFPDKpBEdositJsoTVbMhDnG4XAqQG2ns_o7Q4pGrwQhlYKBDI5Te8tGE4e2ZBZrLr19B68EX4awlfEDAJGEXnxCOU9FEM1fl6ScAVRfBAy1s7P0thCFEaR0xsdesFVosQPThScsydoFV6_T4/w480-h640/IMG_8925.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><p>The blue fabric used for the table is actually an old chambray shirt my husband used to wear. My initial idea for this challenge was to use a larger piece of that shirt and add circles and squares to it. I started by adding coffee rings and was going to stitch around them, but then the rest of that idea just wouldn't settle in. However, I thought having a table with coffee rings was a fun idea (the actual tables at the coffee shop are pristine, in case you were wondering). </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0GQ_klTHSKcwDwjs-RVjVPjLMk1zMQxRa7dv0FM9FS8-3Rvoz28dlrEzFHalEc9ehCZasAK2zAbzztHIHnTMbiIwYRiGSZFveJmH-vH7r7hlw_M6eIUMzQ9Pv_5lxKTYmF65c5gtLmsZFsXcK64WZ6qxAyAx8oS3kbjd7YpQmEP6MEHIdYX9DduTPIjw/s640/IMG_8926.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0GQ_klTHSKcwDwjs-RVjVPjLMk1zMQxRa7dv0FM9FS8-3Rvoz28dlrEzFHalEc9ehCZasAK2zAbzztHIHnTMbiIwYRiGSZFveJmH-vH7r7hlw_M6eIUMzQ9Pv_5lxKTYmF65c5gtLmsZFsXcK64WZ6qxAyAx8oS3kbjd7YpQmEP6MEHIdYX9DduTPIjw/w480-h640/IMG_8926.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><p>Hopefully you can see those coffee rings in that photo. From there, I built the bouquet, using only circles and squares. The vase is two squares on point, set on top of a half-circle. The bouquet itself is a mix of circles and squares - I just let my imagination run. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWVpIj-afVWx-GQOeWJ5dC9n1-YheuF6WwsJOVnMnqW1pQ6tilzeIAEyeu8dpkzqcOki_kD6mBisiyOHuxd1e0xhElpSHNKR3W36cYZ1y5Y0XN_X31xIOQofQ5Kvv4VhJ81Zdd3K0Vx6tp9rMl5vNNBHbrl2EKzWnyKQmowDClhYlhpvZyA0YNu2APGyg/s640/IMG_8927.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWVpIj-afVWx-GQOeWJ5dC9n1-YheuF6WwsJOVnMnqW1pQ6tilzeIAEyeu8dpkzqcOki_kD6mBisiyOHuxd1e0xhElpSHNKR3W36cYZ1y5Y0XN_X31xIOQofQ5Kvv4VhJ81Zdd3K0Vx6tp9rMl5vNNBHbrl2EKzWnyKQmowDClhYlhpvZyA0YNu2APGyg/w480-h640/IMG_8927.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><p>The pieces are all cut freehand. They were stitched to the quilt top using raw edge nachine applique, which got a bit wonky in plaees, but worked out okay enough for me. Rather than using batting for this piece, I used fusible fleece, which I fused to the background before I added the bouquet. Once the bouquet quilting was done, I added the backing to the quilt top and finished with some free motion quilting. It didn't occur to me to do circles and squares in the free motion quilting, so I just practiced a bit of my free hand, which still needs a lot of practice! </p><p>The backing is a scrap piece of blue from my stash, and I had to add a striped binding to add a finishing little pop to the quilt. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGgxPW4KUSO5UPqhagJqAWuPDgi7er571ksHV-sfCaFu1zvpI1hKOSFfCD6FWu9hAjVtwJ4VELkFU3k_q2MbXrHvOiM-v-oAXBSGHcMLwIV49NIrKsKY8LHuWgLnSeU449mHNw4NiLskuQApeHOYzxA2XmICZfTR2CLvPbE43DHVaQR8y4LJdOgvqpEPE/s640/IMG_8929.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGgxPW4KUSO5UPqhagJqAWuPDgi7er571ksHV-sfCaFu1zvpI1hKOSFfCD6FWu9hAjVtwJ4VELkFU3k_q2MbXrHvOiM-v-oAXBSGHcMLwIV49NIrKsKY8LHuWgLnSeU449mHNw4NiLskuQApeHOYzxA2XmICZfTR2CLvPbE43DHVaQR8y4LJdOgvqpEPE/w480-h640/IMG_8929.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><p>This was a fun challenge for me because I had never tried that free motion quilting around circles. I just couldn't think of anyway to make "Circles and Squares" interesting.</p><p>Then I remembered that years ago, when my husband was part of a car club, we got to tour a private car collection. I loved the arrangements of the dashboards and they were crammed with circles and squares, so that would make a perfect subject.</p><p>In creating for these challenges, I have three main objectives: come up
with an image I like, try at least one technique that is new to me, and
use some of the great supplies in my stash.</p><p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWdsnB4reGh_4NY705ZtWVU4sHmJv2vJ9oE11BRS3XXV9K13KQEsp-YvEvcNXHhW4VG8K0XYREjsNK7cSy3HiLHVzZ0wKqpIR9kCZXVSu5TkYnOsGUIMyDx14V1d6WfvCwRQU6V_7FANShoarvnl2xSJYI3DqI_WvArTsrZITHsJzGn9RtFVCT68IalmHa/s4608/IMG_1268.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3456" data-original-width="4608" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWdsnB4reGh_4NY705ZtWVU4sHmJv2vJ9oE11BRS3XXV9K13KQEsp-YvEvcNXHhW4VG8K0XYREjsNK7cSy3HiLHVzZ0wKqpIR9kCZXVSu5TkYnOsGUIMyDx14V1d6WfvCwRQU6V_7FANShoarvnl2xSJYI3DqI_WvArTsrZITHsJzGn9RtFVCT68IalmHa/w400-h300/IMG_1268.JPG" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Beautiful design in a vintage car.</td><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br /></td></tr></tbody></table></p><p>Out of all my dashboard photos, I thought this one had the best balance of circles and squares, and the partial circles were a twist that I would not have thought on my own. </p><p>I have no idea what kind of car it is from because I only took pictures of the dashboards! </p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimKAJh0vJaZYP1hDEVnS2Md9_wwC2ytqyAl-Lmbdb7a1ltFye9h-wkLuCifNpYO5wS0L6m-gG6Sodya-S_BcCpae6I0r-qJDV0Ckn3qxHjztaqwBVO_Bm4vD0UqtPuW2gO2UPK5IiK3yW4o4lKxWhzGw2PdG6fmmuNR95E3oKTJOXsSlvRAqqEGvQsmy1m/s1320/classic%20dash%20e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1053" data-original-width="1320" height="510" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimKAJh0vJaZYP1hDEVnS2Md9_wwC2ytqyAl-Lmbdb7a1ltFye9h-wkLuCifNpYO5wS0L6m-gG6Sodya-S_BcCpae6I0r-qJDV0Ckn3qxHjztaqwBVO_Bm4vD0UqtPuW2gO2UPK5IiK3yW4o4lKxWhzGw2PdG6fmmuNR95E3oKTJOXsSlvRAqqEGvQsmy1m/w640-h510/classic%20dash%20e.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Classic Car Dashboard<br /></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p></p><p>All the fabrics I used were from my stash. I had bought a fat quarter bundle of a SAQA collection for Andover Fabrics in 2017, and I used mainly three of those fabrics -- the dark one with orange blotches, the gold one with brown ripples, and the gold and blue one with the raindrop circles. </p><p>As I thought about appliqueing the circle shapes, I didn't look forward to satin stitching all the edges. Fortunately I remembered a book on my shelf that showed a landscape with lots of curves -- <a href="https://www.worldcat.org/title/225875138" target="_blank">Dream Landscapes</a>: Artful Quilts with Fast-Piece Applique, by Rose Hughes. Her method is to use couching to cover all the raw edges, so that was the new-to-me technique for this piece, and I really liked it. I used knitting ribbon, bias tape, and weaving yarns to outline the various gauges and dials. </p><p>I also had an assortment metallic threads from WonderFil, that came in a box of supplies I got in an online auction, and I used them in straight, zigzag, and satin stitch. I used a needle for metallics, set the tension very low, and used a stabilizer. I had only about a month to work on mine, and so I needed something I could do quickly. During the month of August, I was finishing up sewing together the blocks for my Vintage Linen quilt top. I'd made crazy quilt blocks using some of my grandmother's vintage dresser scarves as the center pentagon.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzGj8j_U9qBvnhPJQ9wJHwkQSALDRI-eJL3QXxvkOR-EdwQonnAqLgfaue0hbOwNIq18yteWfvnfHzLrApAKa8emWoxZL4QqRbjsr3Id9F941Hb8SkeTUCxUEzi_V-csi_sxOmkfetiHDBPNddeVLBCqwXKRq9g2aHGKx7rADhvWeZvurdXeX4SIIWvGTg/s2232/Vintage%20Linen%202023-07-28%20018%20copy.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2149" data-original-width="2232" height="616" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzGj8j_U9qBvnhPJQ9wJHwkQSALDRI-eJL3QXxvkOR-EdwQonnAqLgfaue0hbOwNIq18yteWfvnfHzLrApAKa8emWoxZL4QqRbjsr3Id9F941Hb8SkeTUCxUEzi_V-csi_sxOmkfetiHDBPNddeVLBCqwXKRq9g2aHGKx7rADhvWeZvurdXeX4SIIWvGTg/w640-h616/Vintage%20Linen%202023-07-28%20018%20copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><p>And so I had some of my grandmother's doilies and dresser scarves scattered around the room. I noticed this one. </p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMSIG1gh5u0mrruk3Ut3VOH4D31nVy8eWJhsotCa2zPSg9QqU8mAnGwlFcLf6rLdzec_qRnGOo2IHCSvhcFIQFe8hbqVFsh-1Y8ZevXeFSdH2O0TPF7T2YfdaJEpqE3doVa3iToz4GXdUUnOVQ0YkYSWUSRJftFEuYqd2wdE-EyqQPgiw9RTy3RzZ7ox-F/s2757/Tiny%20House%202023-08-04%20002%20copy.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2488" data-original-width="2757" height="578" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMSIG1gh5u0mrruk3Ut3VOH4D31nVy8eWJhsotCa2zPSg9QqU8mAnGwlFcLf6rLdzec_qRnGOo2IHCSvhcFIQFe8hbqVFsh-1Y8ZevXeFSdH2O0TPF7T2YfdaJEpqE3doVa3iToz4GXdUUnOVQ0YkYSWUSRJftFEuYqd2wdE-EyqQPgiw9RTy3RzZ7ox-F/w640-h578/Tiny%20House%202023-08-04%20002%20copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><p>It was probably made to put at the top of a chair back, to protect the upholstery from the oil from someone's hair. I didn't think to take a picture until I'd already started taking it apart, but I think you can get the idea what it looked like when she made it.</p><p>My grandmother inspired me to learn to quilt. She was long gone by the time I learned, but she was the quilter I knew growing up. Her quilts were all hand-pieced and hand-quilted. She had a heart condition, and she was required to be lying down all but about 4 hours out of any given day. That meant she kept herself busy doing needlework, including embroidery and crochet. She could pick up the tiniest crochet hook and start stitching...no pattern, no nothing. She just crocheted until she had created something lovely and delicate.</p><p>Well, okay, so I found those little circular pieces, but what could I do for squares? Then I remembered this fabric I'd picked up in our travels. I'd selected it for a certain purpose, but then ended up doing something completely different. (How many times have you done that?) And it seemed I could use the two things together somehow.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgexfdwtd2IlT5vIXdMHGtY33TqJRpBfROe10bTZ7m-TLTId8huJ-p1rp-9cN5d_TneNuv-WfCPL_CWl4lH__vm5x-6mXjGMSePsPPocXhNgr0PvGyQYcO8xbtffHZXKuxBndBYr3H_tL1sE8zJt3DqG8JQOI9IRgfCwZO_IQT73VNJO9tqlENH0X0p81cN/s2926/Circles%20and%20Squares%202023-08-06%20011%20copy.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2784" data-original-width="2926" height="608" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgexfdwtd2IlT5vIXdMHGtY33TqJRpBfROe10bTZ7m-TLTId8huJ-p1rp-9cN5d_TneNuv-WfCPL_CWl4lH__vm5x-6mXjGMSePsPPocXhNgr0PvGyQYcO8xbtffHZXKuxBndBYr3H_tL1sE8zJt3DqG8JQOI9IRgfCwZO_IQT73VNJO9tqlENH0X0p81cN/w640-h608/Circles%20and%20Squares%202023-08-06%20011%20copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><p>So, I cut apart an appropriate number of squares. (I liked those little messages on the selvage edge too.)</p><p>First, I laid out the blocks. They seemed a little boring until I added the brightly colored buttons, which also counted as circles.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiR70cnxXIxoJZr59tNxRngnSrWB5d0n7xvkGki1vGxmgNo8t5qq68WBBG8vJV-dSEumE_8RF-_cozquF018AWfNGtGKKWlBePODhF3gbRZD5U05TI6JaP9JH4r9eIuGQhSvVfuBfgt-WwngTAi0W-GmEVBrieA3zZGx1epN2nM3msoagVjyvFbsZblkZ5w/s2906/Circles%20and%20Squares%202023-08-06%20012%20copy.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2448" data-original-width="2906" height="540" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiR70cnxXIxoJZr59tNxRngnSrWB5d0n7xvkGki1vGxmgNo8t5qq68WBBG8vJV-dSEumE_8RF-_cozquF018AWfNGtGKKWlBePODhF3gbRZD5U05TI6JaP9JH4r9eIuGQhSvVfuBfgt-WwngTAi0W-GmEVBrieA3zZGx1epN2nM3msoagVjyvFbsZblkZ5w/w640-h540/Circles%20and%20Squares%202023-08-06%20012%20copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><p>And then I used a zigzag stitch to stitch the doilies to the fabric...like you would for applique.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJvV1b9TFKWfTmERNYvv6WSYlTH62R_YvE_WW-w2qKF6w8Mpn67YVYec0j-FyNMTV1rGaw8gbfeOgQft_tR3yllAZbmMcaCNTOr2VpXV07H2oqEudrI6acx3C6fycTVAAREHu6gRRa_eBipoL7OYtMMbs3o32ONImU2_ReIdOF_UndMC5Rm-TCwFH4mQDQ/s3712/Circles%20and%20Squares%202023-08-06%20013%20copy.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2784" data-original-width="3712" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJvV1b9TFKWfTmERNYvv6WSYlTH62R_YvE_WW-w2qKF6w8Mpn67YVYec0j-FyNMTV1rGaw8gbfeOgQft_tR3yllAZbmMcaCNTOr2VpXV07H2oqEudrI6acx3C6fycTVAAREHu6gRRa_eBipoL7OYtMMbs3o32ONImU2_ReIdOF_UndMC5Rm-TCwFH4mQDQ/w640-h480/Circles%20and%20Squares%202023-08-06%20013%20copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><p>And then, I sewed all the blocks together.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKSYUt489PZKVg8Rd3eInD_9nTHc9fQ73DWHshMOM1_9cladp8uxlVeWF4VTX2a9Inam4N99EokmSgSTcl48ALswrFqYDKoqu1IgvUy7OsfFH1Q89zXjFjt0_xB_nNd_KViVrsyOB2rt9E34iaHVnRMWjdEBD4Zv0tZvd6r9bZjdxFwuwqmxAtOR-e89Hi/s2705/Circle%20and%20Square%202023-08-07%20003%20copy.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2556" data-original-width="2705" height="604" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKSYUt489PZKVg8Rd3eInD_9nTHc9fQ73DWHshMOM1_9cladp8uxlVeWF4VTX2a9Inam4N99EokmSgSTcl48ALswrFqYDKoqu1IgvUy7OsfFH1Q89zXjFjt0_xB_nNd_KViVrsyOB2rt9E34iaHVnRMWjdEBD4Zv0tZvd6r9bZjdxFwuwqmxAtOR-e89Hi/w640-h604/Circle%20and%20Square%202023-08-07%20003%20copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><p>And then, I added this pretty quilt block batik to three sides and the button jar panel to the fourth.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiyzGLjEvhTUWZP8LG5OkPn4X9oJcWJ1JZ2QExzWhQlT8AvU3DYWuNZb8nVT7_r6r28aRYOnMH8OjTwxOFCVhX-QKjS0B8cMFbMopjySdak6oSy6xjHGSHJiiZYgx5tY9kamCwYiEh6r26UpyOWVFSJfpUiflAurqoVLKGUAERDCFuZtrxGLbnD3JAqvMG/s3014/Circle%20and%20Square%202023-08-07%20005%20copy.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2712" data-original-width="3014" height="576" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiyzGLjEvhTUWZP8LG5OkPn4X9oJcWJ1JZ2QExzWhQlT8AvU3DYWuNZb8nVT7_r6r28aRYOnMH8OjTwxOFCVhX-QKjS0B8cMFbMopjySdak6oSy6xjHGSHJiiZYgx5tY9kamCwYiEh6r26UpyOWVFSJfpUiflAurqoVLKGUAERDCFuZtrxGLbnD3JAqvMG/w640-h576/Circle%20and%20Square%202023-08-07%20005%20copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><p>For quilting, I selected this variegated thread. thinking of bed quilts when I'm brainstorming and sometimes the idea
wants to a bigger piece. I struggle with that; keeping it small so the
project is manageable in the timeframe and fun to make, and not a burden
that a bigger project would be. This is what I think it could be made
large: <br /></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHHFa_ONt4kzUZVOV7GcvVl2o285MobCGa6219ygDCPoOQ-59O5x1RUofMofM5eiGZNxzSD8idtrTs-iAXtd5F1fCFwZ7PcveUAMcTdoJMnyE66_x5wPQbIocaoTroK_gbfGeSzawxvikBEzXB8wvNIfhAm09gSp6DrKpBasvzOdCEzFqz-MxpNY0L2Jw/s827/square%20in%20circle%20coloured.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="827" data-original-width="818" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHHFa_ONt4kzUZVOV7GcvVl2o285MobCGa6219ygDCPoOQ-59O5x1RUofMofM5eiGZNxzSD8idtrTs-iAXtd5F1fCFwZ7PcveUAMcTdoJMnyE66_x5wPQbIocaoTroK_gbfGeSzawxvikBEzXB8wvNIfhAm09gSp6DrKpBasvzOdCEzFqz-MxpNY0L2Jw/w634-h640/square%20in%20circle%20coloured.png" width="634" /></a></div><p></p><p> But for this challenge I decied to make the one flower and chose the slanted stalk over the lollipop look of the straight one. I have finished at last - though the photos are indoor/nighttime and don't show the colours well. </p><p>My son asked me a while ago if I could make a picture for my grandson's room, which would also be a memory of my father, who sadly died last November. I thought the collage theme would be a good opportunity to do that so I started by drawing the main elements onto a piece of linen stabilised with freezer paper and fusing on the hexagons for the sky and scallop strips for the sea. I then attached the piece to wadding by machine stitching wavy lines (sky) and hand stitching (sea). I then fused on the gold frame and quilted with straight lines.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6ZplIL2bt54kdmz_jPHHUX0TkeTqegwIo2HnchUkreWjnziU4qU2Gd-jVXhJKiN5KWo2n25jamk9ZCqy9bXNha-4Fkeg3Y_jyupzFITB75OpEXhOldbD3IoINF8GMA1bgApERt5Hu7dKCVHe_v_HkZwHOBk19bdXDtdfgWU2a_SHQf1mCwP29QhUuGfo/s1333/IMG_4395.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1333" data-original-width="1000" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6ZplIL2bt54kdmz_jPHHUX0TkeTqegwIo2HnchUkreWjnziU4qU2Gd-jVXhJKiN5KWo2n25jamk9ZCqy9bXNha-4Fkeg3Y_jyupzFITB75OpEXhOldbD3IoINF8GMA1bgApERt5Hu7dKCVHe_v_HkZwHOBk19bdXDtdfgWU2a_SHQf1mCwP29QhUuGfo/w300-h400/IMG_4395.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><div><br /></div>After that, I fused on the various elements apart from the metal cogs, which I glued on at the very end. I feel I've been missing a trick all these years! I buy crates of <a href="https://textileranger.com/2014/04/06/we-interrupt-spring-cleaning/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">linens at auctions</a>, and I have even rescued sewing baskets from the side of the road, and it is always so much fun to find out what's inside! </p><p> So I pulled together a shredded tablecloth, a torn feed sack with a lovely tatted border, hem-stitched linen napkins, and old handkerchiefs, and combined them with some new materials. I count the work of six other makers besides me in this piece!

I had a difficult time coming up with a subject along those lines. I started to peruse my books to see if I had any inspiration, and that's when I stumbled upon this book, given to me by my daughter awhile ago. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvP93fbXwyixU-IuHHZ9XexQ6P8neR-ZBtwZUIVwErbj_wpdFYrRj_iFzn-nq95J6-qCtX-8Trl3VM5VrFCdAXZGSgecsflAr3f91AkBh5Egs8YltAP_lB8Esg0cAo5Aveu-PXKcbLbjfAPAVZF3pkoA2iLGRLUMZpROSEPZjQJJdlZOaGLMw4VrzySv4/s640/IMG_8542.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvP93fbXwyixU-IuHHZ9XexQ6P8neR-ZBtwZUIVwErbj_wpdFYrRj_iFzn-nq95J6-qCtX-8Trl3VM5VrFCdAXZGSgecsflAr3f91AkBh5Egs8YltAP_lB8Esg0cAo5Aveu-PXKcbLbjfAPAVZF3pkoA2iLGRLUMZpROSEPZjQJJdlZOaGLMw4VrzySv4/w300-h400/IMG_8542.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><p>I had completely forgotten that I even had this book. When she gave it to me, I thought I'd likely never try anything like that, but still hung on to the book. Even when I started paging through, I thought "don't think I could do this". On the other hand, it was very intriguing, and it seemed to fit the collage theme! </p><p>Then Christian Dalbec, a photographer from northern Minnesota that I follow on Instagram, posted a photo of a hummingbird on his Instagram feed, a cropped image of the hummingbird's head, which you can see <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CsbJhnIunbA/" target="_blank">here</a>. I reached out to Christian to ask if I could use his photo as inspiration for this challenge, and he agreed. Now I was committed. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgP2NjvxoR8rJDXOMZ33D9fas6XAqkY3hnrsL7UEw7aMm1CZt-xHhxKmuAicntddc1pslyPZCs4NZSChxelLk3wMHRd0HAHtjR_sj2w-7eT1goo72g5DXZRamudP3hOjZRJNG95RCe41O7DEvw1HII87vprbPifcyDpuUiAc_cTi2jxeUxHXIdGcQnsgr0/s640/IMG_8340.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="446" data-original-width="640" height="446" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgP2NjvxoR8rJDXOMZ33D9fas6XAqkY3hnrsL7UEw7aMm1CZt-xHhxKmuAicntddc1pslyPZCs4NZSChxelLk3wMHRd0HAHtjR_sj2w-7eT1goo72g5DXZRamudP3hOjZRJNG95RCe41O7DEvw1HII87vprbPifcyDpuUiAc_cTi2jxeUxHXIdGcQnsgr0/w640-h446/IMG_8340.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>After reading through the book, watching some Susan Carlson videos and studying Christian's photograph, I dove in, sketching out the hummingbird head on fabric, then starting the process of building the collage. To say it made a huge mess is an understatement (bits of fabric everywhere), but what grand fun! </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQkbbuhILa9DYzWknlzv_wyAaZABaJGLTQIn1ig_Nx0kAi8yWOtK7y6y2ZJYHsoio-1VBTjzBOJYSw8Dj5_n9Zdn0glEIezdfBDHAHISWwNjucsLMq8283ot0_8dpgr4xhiN8xFRJ7UQyW9m4s12CYQD4oEV_zewWJjZ4tu8-XEo-B8bQw61EJqWwowTY/s640/IMG_8356.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQkbbuhILa9DYzWknlzv_wyAaZABaJGLTQIn1ig_Nx0kAi8yWOtK7y6y2ZJYHsoio-1VBTjzBOJYSw8Dj5_n9Zdn0glEIezdfBDHAHISWwNjucsLMq8283ot0_8dpgr4xhiN8xFRJ7UQyW9m4s12CYQD4oEV_zewWJjZ4tu8-XEo-B8bQw61EJqWwowTY/w480-h640/IMG_8356.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><p>This is the image in its early stages. There was much pinning and eventually gluing. Even after the pieces were tacked on with glue, some were changed. I could only work for so long before I had to step away and work on other projects, just to give my brain a break. However, I thoroughly enjoyed this challenge. </p><p>Eventually, it was finished. Once all the pieces were glued down, I did some thread painting using threads that matched the fabrics. My free motion quilting skills are still not great, and I didn't want my rudimentary skills with thread painting to be too obvious. It was fun to look at the back and see how my quilting got more relaxed and improved as I went along. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhag5v9cu341uWUkvpyAcC6sCQI6pkcZaIkx4Wz_Mt5g-IgJaZsSaOQrp-tXQNgfzVGJqJQphNwpDzznxNHS8vD9i8dQDd36kaDYyTElu0FmYu5bJhCLQ0wptHiBsDlFuIAele280V_LHAyZgBKhXZR6WNWSCaY7JoaE7c4LD3EWxd9gtQdItTlf8Aj1uQ/s640/IMG_8540%20(1).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="563" data-original-width="640" height="564" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhag5v9cu341uWUkvpyAcC6sCQI6pkcZaIkx4Wz_Mt5g-IgJaZsSaOQrp-tXQNgfzVGJqJQphNwpDzznxNHS8vD9i8dQDd36kaDYyTElu0FmYu5bJhCLQ0wptHiBsDlFuIAele280V_LHAyZgBKhXZR6WNWSCaY7JoaE7c4LD3EWxd9gtQdItTlf8Aj1uQ/w640-h564/IMG_8540%20(1).jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;">This photo doesn't show it well, but I thought you'd enjoy seeing the back. It was so much fun, but so much work! Will I make another one? I'm not sure, but I have been thinking about subjects, so maybe. This finished piece measures 18.5 inches by 26.5 inches, a very small project compared to the size of the projects worked on by Susan Carlson, the author of <i>Serendipity Quilts</i>. I'm terribly tempted to do something on a larger scale, but then I think of the time and the mess - but oh, the fun! </p><p>I'll write up more details about the creating of this piece on my personal blog, if you are interested. Thanks for the fun, yet challenging, challenge! </p><p><i>Wendy</i></p><p><i><br /></i></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p>piecefulwendyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08966377140189657570noreply@blogger.com12United Kingdom55.378051 -3.435973-12.184236862172668 -144.060973 90 137.189027tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-236944057573310628.post-83953789390754817912023-08-01T10:00:00.044+01:002023-08-01T10:00:00.137+01:00Collage<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhi58kafgHF9TezkYMPBG-zckV7i5XGNtmBTeDjtg2Pvf_A8hEOE1hHgqS7auSeDKLQSQvzIVegt46gkFBgTR1RM0lhNkcMXsVwUfuPELsWZuNdVRZWkbDctH256di8YFeDAPF2Pj6MdhTpWZgFBSJAbm-WEvulLO3FeggwkeGxvePaGrSkLzTuqqJLykC6/s4242/DSC_0001%20(2).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3652" data-original-width="4242" height="412" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhi58kafgHF9TezkYMPBG-zckV7i5XGNtmBTeDjtg2Pvf_A8hEOE1hHgqS7auSeDKLQSQvzIVegt46gkFBgTR1RM0lhNkcMXsVwUfuPELsWZuNdVRZWkbDctH256di8YFeDAPF2Pj6MdhTpWZgFBSJAbm-WEvulLO3FeggwkeGxvePaGrSkLzTuqqJLykC6/w479-h412/DSC_0001%20(2).JPG" width="479" /></a></div>Collage was never my forte since I don't really like them. On the other hand, my husband loves them. So when I told him about this challenge with the theme of Maps, I asked him what I should do. He said I should replicate the Fisher map we used on our honeymoon trip. Fisher Maps - if you have every trekked into the border country of Minnesota and Canada, you may have used a Fisher map, made by the W. A. Fisher Company. They are iconic maps that have been made since 1929. You can read more about the company <a href="https://www.fishermaps.com/" target="_blank">here</a>. </p><p>A little about our honeymoon trip. I had never been to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW, but it is usually shortened to BWCA), but I had been KOA camping (meaning, comfy camping in a camper), so I figured I knew enough. Ha. Camping in the BWCA is sleeping in a tent, eating by campfire, using a <i>very out in the open </i>toilet (okay, there are trees), and no showers. Hubs had been to the BWCA quite a few times, but this was his first time going in solo, with a new wife in tow. We learned a lot, about camping - and each other. </p><p>Years earlier, my dad and my brother built redwood strip canoes, and hubs thought it would be a neat way to honor my dad (who he never got to meet) by taking the canoe on the trip with us. It was a beautiful craft in the water, but it was heavy even before being fully loaded. To give you an idea, hubs made an oak yoke for the canoe, so it would be easier for him to carry. We took it out for a trial run (without packs, etc.), and the yoke broke when he flipped it up onto his shoulders. Hmm. It was so wide at the center that it took up most of the roof on our old Chevy Impala, while other cars were zipping by with two canoes strapped to theirs. But as I said, it was an awesome canoe in the water, so we were determined. </p><p>A week before we were to head in, there were news reports of a bear attack in the BWCA - a rare thing. The attack just happened to be in the area where we were headed. Hubs wisely decided that it might be good to go to another lake rather than have me worrying about a bear (not that it stopped me!). When getting approval to switch our entry point from the ranger at check-in, she quipped, "If you can make it a week in the BWCA for your honeymoon, your marriage will last forever!" Well, here we are, 30-some odd years later. I guess we did something right. </p><p>Upon arriving at our campsite, after paddling through the rain and hilly, muddy, slippery portages (only two, thankfully), we found a little plastic giraffe left on a big rock. Since our campsite was on a point, we dubbed the campsite "Rainy Giraffe Point". I seriously considered taking that little giraffe with me for a momento when we left, but in the end, left it for the next campers to discover. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfsB1t0X0DbHeFvPzLoJAifX-FefedAaCb-Qm6DhW5kNzf1HQO6vzdiUZ2olNnzKfQ5urNORP3kTn4HS4rOnti7z88AGuLNie4kkzFcWCL7xojtzefrqs2kvagJ9jkq2-h9DxmaBTAqT1i5WRb-AABsSsJojKxSA-Rwdwp0fOGxZh-SgV1fXc1_6yo/s640/IMG_8141.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="609" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfsB1t0X0DbHeFvPzLoJAifX-FefedAaCb-Qm6DhW5kNzf1HQO6vzdiUZ2olNnzKfQ5urNORP3kTn4HS4rOnti7z88AGuLNie4kkzFcWCL7xojtzefrqs2kvagJ9jkq2-h9DxmaBTAqT1i5WRb-AABsSsJojKxSA-Rwdwp0fOGxZh-SgV1fXc1_6yo/w610-h640/IMG_8141.jpg" width="610" /></a></div><br /><p>Fisher maps are known for their bright colors, a yellow green for the land, and blue for the water. There are topographic markings as well, and I wasn't sure how I was going to stitch that in on the land. I was surprised to find a piece of Tula Pink fabric I had in my stash - no idea when or where I bought it - that had a design that looked topographical, and in the right color! I love it when that happens. </p><p>So I did a rough trace of the lake, just making it kinda like the actual shape. I traced it in reverse on some fusible, and fused it to the blue fabric and cut it out. Even with rough tracing, those little ins and outs called for a sharp scissors. Before I attached the lake to the map, I sandwiched the yellow green fabric, batting and backing and did some quick grid quilting to mimic the latitude and longitude lines on the map. </p><p>Once that was done, I fused the lake onto the quilt. I decided to hand stitch around the outline of the lake using Aurifil 12 wt. blue thread, then I stitched in some depth lines, but not exactly like what would be seen on the actual Fisher map - just enough for you to get the idea. Next came marking the campsites in little red x's - the campsite we stayed at is marked with a heart. BWCA maps come marked with designated campsites, which have a fire grate on site and biffies (toilets) nearby. Campers are only to camp at those specified sites, and they are first come, first served. If all the sites are taken, you find another lake on your route with an open site. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhL-jGvmACN8ZUoNWVm5SXxO_q9DcGWu3PoJ-ehuE2-amxuqlcGo7WcpkIGZINrdHslNIubZtjoKEW0yW7FY0CXt3vvand9pk6Ux0ehxCpcP3hgR1DbV8yIWEnc59RcJJ5FD4-HP64uVlK6-MAP9HzhdK6YRmXa5rsS1M00vNPkqGAVDi27GgxhNGjB/s640/IMG_8145.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhL-jGvmACN8ZUoNWVm5SXxO_q9DcGWu3PoJ-ehuE2-amxuqlcGo7WcpkIGZINrdHslNIubZtjoKEW0yW7FY0CXt3vvand9pk6Ux0ehxCpcP3hgR1DbV8yIWEnc59RcJJ5FD4-HP64uVlK6-MAP9HzhdK6YRmXa5rsS1M00vNPkqGAVDi27GgxhNGjB/w480-h640/IMG_8145.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><p>I also stitched in the approximate route we took across the lake to the campsite. It rained the entire way, but thankfully broke long enough for us to get our tent up and attempt to hang our packs. Did I mention that our packs were heavy too? The ropes broke while we were hanging the packs, so we ended up putting the packs in the canoe, and the canoe out in the water (tethered to a tree) and hoped no bear would come into camp. I was beginning to see why the ranger said what she did . . .</p><p>Next I attached the label, which I wrote up with a Pigma pen. Then I worked on the silhouette sketch of Rainy Giraffe Point - that little giraffe-ish figure was a bit difficult in that tiny size! </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUy3dFPMoVrnWpAD-vB-7O5RwwY2SRoe0Ipi9EqgAJ1Qwl-75ur892I5WDHXhJFJtQ9xtNCsfwvV35aNEoicBUREYV_ODEFSnwCQessy3HN1Q1wxogtQe6CbmPO54lkoh5wOzn3ZWCs9FBqBv6cNpZZzgU6SoLLcmiuE5FCDnHUVPQvFXHK5DNBhKU/s640/IMG_8146.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUy3dFPMoVrnWpAD-vB-7O5RwwY2SRoe0Ipi9EqgAJ1Qwl-75ur892I5WDHXhJFJtQ9xtNCsfwvV35aNEoicBUREYV_ODEFSnwCQessy3HN1Q1wxogtQe6CbmPO54lkoh5wOzn3ZWCs9FBqBv6cNpZZzgU6SoLLcmiuE5FCDnHUVPQvFXHK5DNBhKU/w480-h640/IMG_8146.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqzMjF7HWe3abJvEzCcbmy9Z59MrNFhFte-vsJ6csbr8lNXhV1NKPQpLhckzUZpJf_j4g8_JZh3tuUY2ABkwGZsB3hqP3IOw5GjxZaVu1l8YVCR23pSnvR0p0xcqW6kLFweUW_0_lAPOXwgIpFLLsZkvit0ZP-qvewGBdXuu-wh8IRAGb4pFhAS0kr/s640/IMG_8147.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="512" data-original-width="640" height="512" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqzMjF7HWe3abJvEzCcbmy9Z59MrNFhFte-vsJ6csbr8lNXhV1NKPQpLhckzUZpJf_j4g8_JZh3tuUY2ABkwGZsB3hqP3IOw5GjxZaVu1l8YVCR23pSnvR0p0xcqW6kLFweUW_0_lAPOXwgIpFLLsZkvit0ZP-qvewGBdXuu-wh8IRAGb4pFhAS0kr/w640-h512/IMG_8147.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>For the backing, I used a fat quarter I've had in my stash, just waiting for the perfect quilt.
